Aggam Walia is a freelance journalist who shuttles between Jalandhar and New Delhi. He graduated from Ashoka University in 2023 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Media Studies. At Ashoka, he wrote an undergraduate thesis on agrarian populism in contemporary India. Previously, he has worked with Trivedi Centre for Political Data and written on Punjab elections for TCPD Columns. He has also interned with The Indian Express in Chandigarh where he reported on urban planning and culture. Aggam has a keen interest in pursuing stories dealing with governance, agrarian policy, and financial fraud.
Before the onset of monsoon, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami personally lobbied with the Centre to keep mining four rivers. The Centre, ruled by his fellow partymen, fulfilled his demand in breach of critical environmental safeguards.
