Hi,
Eighteen years ago, Noida’s Nithari village became the centre of one of India’s most chilling crime stories. The one where police unearthed human skulls and bones behind a businessman’s bungalow. The media called it the “House of Horrors.”
In the first part of our revisit to the haunting Nithari murder case, Tapasya parses through court documents that highlight how the police and CBI “botched up” this so-called solved case.
The blame? Laid squarely on two men. One of them, Surendra Koli, a poor Dalit house servant, was painted as a monstrous killer. Both were handed death sentences. But as the case unraveled, so did the investigation.
Shoddy police work, ignored leads, and forced confessions created a convenient villain, while bigger questions, like organ trafficking and systemic failures, were brushed aside.
Dive into our revisit of the Nithari murders that uncovers what was left buried. Read it here.
